I paint the remnants of remembered places that shape our experiences. Borrowing from the tradition of chorography (mapping based on perception versus analysis), painting helps me to understand in-between spaces and gaps in memory. These recent works are interpolations of land with the horizon emerging as a means of orientation. Using predominantly oils, I build foundation layers and then focus on color and form. The work explores how we distort perception, revealing or obscuring information to ourselves and others.
