Statement
I paint in-between spaces and the stratification of memory over time. Taking cues from the land, I reflect on forgotten things, their spaces hazy against the sharp yet obscure details of memories. Drawing on the tradition of chorography (mapping based on perception versus analysis) the process of painting makes visible what escapes simple description. Working in oil, I build foundation layers and then focus on color, mood, and form. The work explores distorted perceptions, and leverages transparency and opacity to reflect what's lost and what remains.
